Teachers Day Celebration

By: Atifah Osman

Its the final day of Term 3 and the kids are going to enjoy 4 days of school holiday (excluding sunday and friday). This means the teachers too (some, I must say...) will get some time off including me (Yabbadabadooooo~). Its not much but enough, I suppose to get some peace of mind. :D

Not only today is our last day of school but its the day whereby we, the member of SR PDJ celebrate teachers day in our school. It was seriously a laid back celebration, a feeling that I rarely get to experience when I was in school. It was so much fun considering its my first teachers day celebration this year. Reflecting back on my school years, I don't think we were able to witnessed any of the fun thing we have today. Well done to AJKs, performers, teachers and students. Keep up the good work.

Happy teachers day for all. Thank you for all the food and presents... May Allah bless us all to be better educators for the better future of our own country.

By the way, thank you to my secret santa@teacher who was made public; for getting me a big bulky present. It somehow made me feel so bad for the person who received my budget-contained present (a BIG funny story behind it - never failed to make me and my partner in crime to burst into laughter). I wonder how she responds to it. I guess she doesn't know how nervous it made me feel thinking of her reaction. It may look big on the outside but... -_-"

Before the event began, we had a little makan-makan during break time though there were quite a number of teachers who got to the table earlier than 'scheduled'. :p

A sweet treat from one of the teachers.

Yummmmmyyyy!
The only picture of the food that day.

Our usual emcee for any events and one of our sound engineer, I suppose...

As one of the segments for this celebration, ten Year 2 students were asked to go to the stage and imitate some of SR PDJ's teachers for the audience to guess. It was an entertaining show although I was one of the teachers being imitated; its kind of embarassing. But, luckily the kids were not able to guess it was me. The girl don't have my signature green hand fan but a job well done kiddos. :) Coaches, do better next time but jangan labih-labih ketulahan karang~ :p

Photos will come to follow... Still waiting for my dearest colleague to upload it to Facebook for me to post it here. Thank you for lending me your camera Cikgu Rinah HS... It made people think I love purple since from head to toe I am glinting in purple. 0.o What a coincidence...

Dokumentari Hari Guru 2012

By: Atifah Osman

A few weeks ago, a crew of RTB paid our school a visit. They wanted to make a special program to celebrate 22nd Year of Teachers' Day. After a long wait, the program was aired on the night of 23rd September 2012 at 9 p.m.

On September 5th 2012, the crew waited for the teachers of SR PDJ at the Sungai Lampai's green dome lagoon to record our everyday's journey to get to the school's building using the school's boat provided by the Government.

After recording our waterway journey, they managed to record our usual morning assembly before heading to classes recording our daily teaching routine.

The selection of who gets to be recorded were done the day before. We had less than 24-hour to get our teaching and class ready for TV-shots. But, what really amazed me... There were teachers who were selected at the very last minute - on the day itself: minutes before the crew entered the class, I suppose. This means that they were not given early notice like the other teachers who were informed a day earlier. They don't have the luxury of time to get things done perfectly but they have done a great job! They have more clippings broadcasted than yours truly. ^___^

Below is the video for the special program celebrating this year's teachers' day courtesy of rtbnews. Many will probably preferred to not watch it again - including yours truly ani juaaaaa... But, for the sake of future reference I'll just put it here although I feel like destroying *pardon my harsh words* every copy there is.

Selamat Hari Guru

By: Atifah Osman

Its 23rd September 2012.
Happy teachers day to ALL teachers out there~
^____^

"Semoga dapat menjadi guru yang hadirnya ditunggu.
Hilangnya dirindu.
Ilmunya diburu.
Nasihatnya diseru.
Tingkahlaku dan budi pekertinya ditiru.
dan...
Kehilangannya diiringi doa restu."

Yesterday was a special day for me!
...perhaps other teachers of Year 5 (2012) would feel the same too.
What an amazing surprise they had given us.

It all started with two different surprise parties held in Year 5 classes to celebrate advance Teachers Day. Since I knew there was another party nearby, my students and I requested to have both parties placed at one venue (in Year 5A's class) to make it easy for all the invited teachers to be in the same place at the same time.
Less complicated that way, ain't it?

Thank you cikgu Hjh Afidah for having us in your classroom.

Thank you kiddos for such brilliant surprise though I knew all about it months ago when they started to collect money and kept it on my desk for safety plus our GB told us during one of our contact time that the kids had asked for permission to have such party in class.

It is amazing of how they went straight up to the highest position for permission.
UNBELIEVABLY courageous! Where do they get such confidence? It boggles my mind.

Anyways, we feel very much appreciated.
Once again, thank you *BIG hugs*.

Apparently, there is a part two for this celebration: there is a pre-celebration and there is a post-celebration. Yeay! ...for us! ^__^
This time around it was hosted by Year 5B - Cikgu Hasni's class.
Teachers of Year 5B were invited to their class during break time.
Thank you kids, once again for making us feel special in the month of September where teachers all around Brunei is celebrated.
Thank you for the bottom of our hearts. <3

Big apologies for the quality of the pictures.
I had to use my SE phone to get the pictures taken.
I would've used my camera but after rummaging my bags (Yes, BAGS!) I just couldn't find it.
I always had it with me.
I guess its just not my day.

Our Master Timetable is finally READY!

By: Atifah Osman

Akhirnya satu hutang dalam sejuta dapat dilangsaikan pada hari ini! Alhamdulillah... Tugasan yang diberikan berbulan-bulan yang lalu, cuba diselesaikan sedikit demi sedikit terlaksana jua akhirnya.

Starting from organising colours, printing, cutting almost 1000++ mini tags, taped with double sided onto laminating film, getting everything laminated, cutting it again into small pieces before finally attaching it with velcro was too much to handle ALONE. With a few help from kind-hearted colleagues namely Cikgu Hasni, Cikgu Windy and our clerk, Miss Juliana (my apologies, if I miss out anyone) plus my lovable siblings everything was done before the school reopen in June.

However, getting the task done is too difficult with so many things going on in school. Plus, the condition of the working environment where the noticeboards placed were just too demotivating and uninspiring. plus SCARY.
It has poor ventilation and spending more than half an hour there is completely a bad idea. Unfortunately, work is work!

Bare noticeboards... Yes, NOTICEBOARDS! We have two noticeboards to fill up...

What a mess! We terrorize the senior teachers' tables
[ampun beribu ampun...]
We were getting new minitags done on that VERY day~
My bad! Forgot to print out the minitags for the school programs.
Not sure of how to do it actually - needed some help. :(

The smell of that spray is seriously toxifying but satisfying! Things we do to beautify the school.
Kudos to our art teacher. Its a brilliant idea to use the kids' work for our noticeboard ^__^
But surely, soon akan dicabut semula untuk kelas lukisan...

Its finally DONE but not quite... We'll try to improve it (into ver. 2.0) whenever we have time to kill which I doubt I'll have that privileage anytime soon.

We handled more than 1000+ mini tags in ONE DAY! AH-mazing~

Thank you to those who helped out: teachers, students and school staffs. We really appreciate it walau hanya memindahkan satu kad sahaja. ^___^ Those who offer to help but unfortunately we failed to delegate the work, jangan jara to help out... Sorry! Its just bad timing. You were asking when there was an abundance of help which I think is unwise to mention here where we get it from... Ehehehe~ ^___^
